Probate and Administration of Estate Fees
Please note that the following information gives an indication of our fees, but the complexity of probate work varies in every case. All of the following assumes that the estate is UK-based and not contested by anyone and that there is a valid will, made in the UK. We will always provide you with a written quote for our services.
Fees include the preparation of everything necessary, including an Inheritance Tax Return if necessary. Where a full inheritance tax account is required, we estimate it is likely to take between 8 and 12 hours’ work to obtain Probate.
Hourly rates
Our ordinary hourly rates apply, and this will be charged in accordance with the hourly rate of the Fee Earner working on the matter. Current rates range from £250 to £350 (excluding VAT) and you will be advised of the hourly rate to be charged and an estimate of the approximate time we think will be required to complete the work.
Additional Charges and VAT
An additional charge of 1% of the gross value of the estate plus VAT is always applicable to the estate. Please note that VAT is added to our charges at the rate that applies when the work is done. Further payments to third parties may be payable in addition to the above charges, most commonly:
